Precious Metals Materials Manager
REPORTS TO: Director of Inventory Control
JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the Director of Inventory control the PM Materials Manager has overall responsibility for managing and reporting on all precious and non-precious materials at all outside refiners and storage locations. The person will analyze and recommend the most efficient (settlement times) and cost effective method (inventory levels and refine cost including fees, retentions, yield, and lease) for processing PM materials taking into consideration internal processing and external processing, and will recommend capacity and capability expansion when required. Will help manage and control consignment inventory levels supporting customer and business needs. Provides support to all operations, accounting and IT regarding inventory issues. The position requires direct involvement with daily operations and future material demands to assure the activities support business goals and objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Manage processing and physical inventories at all outside refine vendors for all WAM facilities. Direct responsibility for Albuquerque and Buffalo.
- Manager internal industrial and refine materials that need processing through WAM refining and or outside services.
- Assess refine vendor capabilities, evaluate performance and oversee qualification and certification programs.
- Review proposals and negotiate contracts regarding outside services ensuring lowest possible cost and time while meeting specified quality standards and specifications including reporting timeliness and accuracy. Bids and awards contracts periodically, at least yearly.
- Develop, establish and provide reporting systems to manage refiners and outside PM storage locations.
- Manage inventory stocking programs - Customer, internal other WAM facilities.
- Insures Inventory accuracy and timeliness requirements meet company and customer requirements.
- Maintain daily reports that are established to measure daily, weekly and monthly performance.
- Recommends capital expansion for capacity and/or capability versus running at outside refine vendors.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Carry out supervisory and management responsibilities in accordance with organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, recommend hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor of chemistry or chemical engineer or equivalent, chemist preferred. MBA a plus. Five years of experience working with vendors and suppliers. Precious metal experience a plus. Five additional years of manufacturing experience. Understands financial methods and adept at numeric analysis. Structured – develops procedures and standard methods.

Customer On-Site Coordinator Representative
LOCATION: Raleigh Durham, North Carolina (Customer manufacturing site)
REPORTS TO: Director of Inventory Control
JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the Product Manager in the Sales and Marketing dept. the Customer On-Site Coordinator primary responsibility is to support all aspects of Customer shield and refine services at Customer manufacturing site.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Work at Customer site as a Williams Advanced Materials (WAM) representative to provide order and logistics support related to the management of all WAM PVD materials and shield parts. Develop, in liaison with Customer, a flexible inventory system capable of responding to manufacturing demand and technological change to avoid stock-outs or component obsolescence (optimize inventory levels).
- Assist in determining shielding requirements (specification development assistance) with the Customer Equipment Support Group as a result of new equipment installs and system re-configurations.
- Perform incoming inspection and review of certificates of analysis/conformity for all incoming Materials identified in the program.
- Initiate and develop training programs for the Customer Equipment Support Group with regard to correct shielding protocol, handling and kit management requirements.
- Provide refine settlement analysis to assure accurate and on-time settlements to Customer.
- Provide monthly review and written reports of the on-site cleaning program, detailing costs and consumption by equipment set, areas of improvement, and potential areas of opportunity, failures, and etcetera.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires minimum of Associates degree in one of the following Engineering disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Physics, or related field, or Equivalent Work Experience.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Requires the ability to operate various office equipment to include a computer, printer, fax machine, copier, calculator, telephone systems. Must be proficient in MS word, excel, project, and WAM operating systems: SAP, Salesforce.com.
Must be able to work independently while maintaining open communication to the WAM sales, marketing and operations groups.
May include working in a clean room environment or utility area. May include travel to WAM corporate headquarters up to 6 times per year. Relocation assistance will not be provided.

Electroplater - Plating Dept.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for the production of nickel/gold electroplated semiconductor lids, meeting quality standards set forth by both Quality Control and customer specifications.
- Sets up plating runs going through the facility, determining proper barrel size, part loading, and plating parameters to achieve the best overall balance between production efficiency and plating uniformity/quality.
- Responsible for maintaining the quality of plating, cleaning and rinsing tanks, performing routine testing and adjusting chemistry or replacing bath contents as required for process control.
- Responsible for overall plating quality and uniformity, visually inspecting each barrel run and taking a representative sample of lids for inspection to determine acceptable quality, as defined by Quality Control and specifications. In cases of under/over plated or stained parts, adjusts plating parameters to conform to existing quality specifications.
- Responsible for the safe and accurate control of precious metal inventory, existing as gold salt solution and as in-process gold plated lids, within the guidelines established by Inventory Control.
- Responsible for controlling all precious metal rinse water solutions before going to the in-house procedures for sampling and analyzing.
- Maintains plating equipment at its best efficiency and keeps the facility in orderly and clean fashion to assure optimum plating performance.
- Must maintain logs of mean gold and nickel thicknesses and adjust future run calculations for target thicknesses.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent. Plating/chemical background preferred. Previous work in a manufacturing environment 3-6 months minimum. Ability to read and comprehend customer specifications. Ability to use weights and measurements.

Responsible for training others on this machine.
Be able to design and build fixtures for C-Scan and Bonding.
Inspection of backing plates – both incoming and outgoing.
Required to perform all duties of bond technicians such as cleaning of targets and backing plates.
Preparing and bonding (or debonding) sputtering targets and backing plates.
Cleaning finished target assemblies prior to shipping.
Keeps records of all bond operations.
Maintains, sets up and operates hot plates and ovens as needed for bonding or debonding.
Maintains supplies needed for bonding operations.
Responsible for requisitioning supplies for the bond lab.
Cleans and evaluates bonded target assemblies.
Maintain equipment; perform preventive maintenance as scheduled.
Process all necessary paperwork to include analysis forms, labor data entry, and inventory records.
Responsible for all cleanliness of Bond Lab. Follow all clean-up and housekeeping procedures. Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.

Work with the various WAM sales locations along with supporting departments to enhance the customer experience when dealing with WAM sales teams. Work with the Sales Directors, Regional Sales Managers and Sales VP to ensure consistent approach to the customer service function. Analyze, develop and implement "best practices" across the customer service organization. Work with IT and related functions to integrate and standardize business systems and output throughout the global customer service organization. Provide developmental training and coaching to the inside sales groups. Provide input to monthly forecasts, customer updates and TGP metrics. Manage lead database to ensure timely response. These reports to include quote success rate, avg. order size, quote response times, etc. Directly supervise employees that are assigned to the Customer Service Manager. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Requires education generally equivalent to a 4 year degree or equivalent work experience. Knowledge of Inside Sales and/or Call Center environments, past managerial experience in an Inside Sales or Customer Service Manager's role. Experience in Material Sciences a plus but not required. This position requires approximately 30 - 40% travel to Europe, Asia and the Continental United States.
