Quality EngineerLocation: Zentrix Technologies Inc in Newburyport, MA Reports to: Quality Manager or Quality Supervisor (based on business needs)
Summary:
The Quality Engineer is a key member of the Quality team. The individual will be actively involved in all aspects of the Quality System and Quality Improvement Plan with the aim to meet or exceed agreed quality targets. The Quality Engineer reports directly to the Quality Manager or Quality Supervisor (based on business needs).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned.
- Supervisory Requirements:
- Acts as a back up to the Quality Manager or Quality Supervisor.
- Provides indirect leadership to other quality team members and project leadership for continuous improvement and corrective action teams.
- Acts safely and ethically at all times and is responsible for the quality department’s safety performance. Upholds and acts according to our values, mission, and vision.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Project leader for continuous improvement teams utilizing Six Sigma & Lean techniques that improve key metrics (Cost of Quality, Customer Complaint metrics, Yield) that increase organizational effectiveness and reduces cycle time.
- Aides in developing metrics that track and report status of the overall business Quality System (i.e. Cost of Quality, customer complaints, product non-conformances, etc).
- Drive process quality improvements through the implementation of automated process controls, sampling systems, enhanced manufacturing procedures and utilization of statistical techniques. Develops statistical process control systems.
- Customer Requirements:
- Project leader for Problem Solving Processes (8D, 5 Why, 7D, etc) to resolve Customer complaints, Customer audit findings or Return Material Authorizations in a timely manner that prevents reoccurrence. Directs failure analysis, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Develops reports to meet customer needs and frequently interacts with Customers.
- Assists Sales and Operations with Customer requirements and specifications.
- Member of customer audits and customer visit teams.
- Quality Management System:
- Provides support to the Quality Manager and or Quality Supervisor to maintain requirements for the Quality Management System.
- Project leader for Problem Solving Processes (8D, 5 Why, 7D, etc) for Quality Management System Corrective Actions.
- Team member for the Management of Change process (Externally – Customers & Suppliers, Internally) and Material Review Board process.
- Provides support for the Quality Management System which includes Document Control, Calibration, Corrective & Preventative Actions, Complaints, etc.
- Perform periodic internal audits of the quality management system. Develop action plans to address findings. Prepares for and coordinates external quality system audits.
- Develops standard operating procedures for all processes related to the Quality Management System. Implement and modify procedures to include processing, quality and equipment improvements.
- Establish raw material and product acceptance criteria. Works with Suppliers on discrepant material issues and Supplier Requests for Change.
- Standardize the calibration of inspection and test equipment. Calibration duties include knowledge of calibration of micrometers, calipers, depth gages, etc. Coordinates equipment calibration from outside sources. Maintains calibration database and ensures on-time performance of scheduled calibration.
- Train and inform company personnel on quality standards and procedures.
- Maintain all required records to include analytical submission requirements, analytical results and lot traceability and history and prepare reports for management review.
- Maintains the Nonconforming Material Process and develops actions to reduce nonconformances through Lean and Six Sigma techniques.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelors degree in Business or Technical field preferred or equivalent experience.
- Lean and or Six Sigma Green Belt certification required or 2-3yrs of Continuous Improvement experience .
- Project Management experience required (2-3yrs).
- Prefer experience and knowledge of manufacturing systems, the quality function and technical products. Further experience with calibration, metrology and quality system auditing will be beneficial.

Product / Process Development TechnicianLocation: Zentrix Technologies Inc in Newburyport, MA
General Description:
Performs a variety of tasks related to new product and process development for electronic packaging. Tasks include; assembly and evaluation of test samples, manufacture of customer prototype products, evaluation of current and proposed manufacturing processes. Has a disciplined approach to performing experiments, data analysis and documentation. A strong technician background is desirable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Responsible for completion of assigned projects and tasks under general guidance of engineer in support of established goals.
- Responsible for the proper use and function of manufacturing test and measurement equipment.
- Coordinates and systematically performs experiments/tests for various stages of new product development.
- Systematically and accurately measures, collects, records data and information generated in competitive analyses, acceptance testing, designed experiments, product/process development studies and production processes.
- Builds customer prototypes. Sensitive and responsive to internal and external customer needs.
- Able to assess manpower, materials and equipment needs, for assigned tasks and request assistance as required to achieve objective.
- Trains operators and other technicians in process parameters, which affect product quality.
- Adheres to all established EH&S guidelines. Takes a positive interest in safe practices and working conditions when modifying equipment and making process recommendations.
- Develops tooling and fixturing as needed.
Requirements:
- Requires the completion of a high school curriculum including courses in math, chemistry, etc. An Associate Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience as a technician, in a related field preferred.
- Five years manufacturing experience in a related industry. Detailed familiarity with manufacturing, and laboratory equipment including set-up, calibration and maintenance. In addition, familiarity with product development and project management is highly desirable.
- Uses problem solving methodology such as Process Mapping, Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments with supervision. Lean and or Six Sigma training recommended.
- Communicates and works well with people to coordinate activities for efficient operation of the departmental functions. Exhibits positive attitude.
- Individual will work throughout the plant with varying conditions; production areas include furnaces and chemicals.
- Adaptability to flexible hours is necessary.
- Literate with Microsoft Office applications. Including; Word, Excel, and Project.
- Soldering, brazing, and plating experience is preferred.
Education and/or Experience:
- Requires the completion of a high school curriculum including courses in math, chemistry, etc. An Associate Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent experience as a technician, in a related field preferred. Training in SPC, DOE and data analysis desired or equivalent years of experience.
- Dexterity and preciseness required to operate test equipment.
- Minimum of 5 years manufacturing related experience.
- Detailed familiarity with manufacturing, and laboratory equipment including set-up calibration and maintenance. In addition, familiarity with product development and project management is highly desirable.
- Process Mapping, Statistical Process Control, Design of Experiments, Lean and or Six Sigma training desirable.
- Capable of using a measuring device.
